Nothing sounds quite like a Rickenbacker 12 string, does it? This was written when I was very hurt by someone I loved very much. I wanted to express the whole gamut of emotions one goes through, as well as some of the terrible choices one is sometimes faced with in intimate relationships. The song was quite a bit bleaker, it had lines in it like ‘Did you kill the thing you love so that you could live’ and ‘The love inside you dies/Never to rise again’ – I like it better now after softening it up some.. By the way, I have cried myself to sleep on a one way train; actually I’ve experienced everything in the song, which was the point of it. This is one of several songs on this CD in which the lyric consists almost entirely of questions.
